I know you understand how perilous free speech is at the moment. I try to be as neutral as I can when writing but I lean on the conservative side. We have the greatest nation on earth, but I understand a nation we need always to improve. I was arguing with my grown kids today and they do not seem to understand that if what they call ‘White America’ succumbs to the insurrection their lives will be so much worse. I have this simple mantra, if you show up at school every day, then at work every day, you will succeed, no matter who you are. It is that simple. I am sorry I am ranting here. I am very frustrated.

I’m right there with you, my friend. I preach that we shouldn’t worry about things we can’t control, but it’s easier to say than to do. I try to be in the moment when I see something that’s beautiful, enjoy the sunshine and the breeze. And I try to remember that the worst days we’ve had are better than the best days of many other people in the world. We are truly blessed, and if we must at some point give up that blessing, we still received it.
